Dolores Sanchez Calvo is an artist living and working in London for the last decade. She was the recipient of the 2008 Westminster Photographic Award and her work was selected for the National Gallery Photographic Prize 2007. She has exhibited across Europe and the UK.
Dolores is a visual artist working in a variety of media including photography, painting and installations.
Her practice explores the fragmented cultural iconography of contemporary society investigating themes of identity and memory through the complex layering of history and popular culture. More recently, she started investigating the urban territory and the way people relate to the surroundings.
Whilst developping these themes, the artist is also interested in the value of the art object and the notions of display and representation, seeking to establish relationships and interaction within different media.
